What are ultraviolet (UV) rays?

Ultraviolet rays are those that are located beyond the visible spectrum and are categorized into three types: UVA, UVB, and UVC. UVA is the most common – these rays pass through glass and can be harmful both outdoors and indoors. UVB is the most dangerous type of UV rays and the primary cause of skin burning and retina harm. These rays do not pass through glass. UVC rays are blocked by the ozone layer and do not penetrate the Earth’s surface.
